Equake mate applet v1.3.8.2 released

The following changes were made:

  • Migrated to gtk3 which is the default major version of gtk used by mate in the current debian stable and newer
  • Limited the amount to which text can grow before being displayed into GtkLabel when viewing historical data for the week, to prevent GtkLabel from crashing
  • Added test to count amount of commas left in text to be processed

The equake mate applet has been migrated to use https to download earthquake data because USGS will phase out or has phased out unencrypted http access, see also: https://https.cio.gov

It is important to upgrade, due to USGS phasing out unencrypted http access the older version has stopped working. Please read the ChangeLog for more information about this release.

Equake Xfce panel plugin v1.3.8.1 released


The equake panel plugin has been migrated to use https to download earthquake data because USGS will phase out or has phased out unencrypted http access, see also: https://https.cio.gov

Equake Xfce panel plugin and GNOME applet v1.03.8 released


The highlight of this release is a move to bing maps because of better performance and sensible API for the detailed map display, the USGS map display remains unchanged.

Equake GNOME applet v1.03.4 released


There have been quite a few noticeable changes, the most important ones are:

  • Added display of earthquakes of the past seven days
  • Added map links to last hour/day/week windows
  • Added local time in addition to UTC for earthquake events
  • Improved processing of the date and time
  • Fixed small typo in data processing, changed empty string comparison into NULL comparison
