Look! http://www.newscientist.com/article/dn21120-how-fracking-caused-earthquakes-in-the-uk.html
Interesting, thanks. In the Netherlands they actually have a similar problem, in the North in Groningen they extract natural gas from ground, which causes the ground to compact and it causes smallish earthquakes. Which still are bad enough to cause damage to houses.
In the South East there are now defunct coal mines which also cause the occasional earthquake (still). I remember one in the late 80s that was around magnitude 5.3. Sadly I was fast asleep when it happened. My mother felt it, even though we live all the way in the West.
Here is a really interesting radar capture from NOAA, showing that large clouds of low-flying bugs and birds pinged radar after that quake in Oklahoma. http://www.srh.noaa.gov/graphicastNew.php?site=oun&gc=3
Very nice thanks. There have been quite a few magnitude 3+ earthquakes in Oklahoma the last few days.
